01:11:45
hello everyone

01:13:28

01:14:18
How long are deleted items stored to undelete?

01:20:49
anyway to remove the navigation bar to increase screen real estate? I would prefer they use my tabs on the home page.

01:21:30
Jozsef, no.

01:22:32
For your own screen space, you can click the three lines next to the course title to hide the nav bar. But that doesn't affect student view.

01:23:15
Karen, I cannot hear you

01:23:38

01:24:15

01:24:16
yes

01:25:01
Is that what will show up on the "card" now?

01:25:14
Oh. thank you. You answered it. Thank you.

01:27:19
I think the nickname changes the 'from' field in Announcements to email -- it makes it a little nicer to read.

01:28:03
Do they see the image on the course card?

01:28:18
thanks. I thought so

01:28:47
Can students nickname the courses on their end?

01:28:59
And you can remove all color overlays if you want using the 3 dot menu to the right of the Dashboard heading

01:29:24
at top

01:29:27
not by card

01:29:41
Yes, I do it

01:32:07
What is the u in circle?

01:32:33
When you create an announcement does it automatically send an email to the students?

01:33:04
Is there a way to make one announcement and post it to multiple classes? Additionally, I have the same question about email.

01:33:11
If I add an announcement today, but I don’t publish my course until Wednesday, when will the announcement be sent to students?

01:33:12
Karen, how do you post an announcement? Just go to announcement link?

01:33:17
Sorry if I missed that part

01:34:05
Thank. you

01:34:32
Do announcements go to students before the start date

01:34:58
Sorry, but what does the U mean?

01:35:36
Are the U announcements seen?

01:35:54
Thanks!

01:36:39
If students previously opted out of getting announcement notifications, how do they opt back in to getting them by email (so I can direct them)?

01:37:47
Or command-k if you're a Mac person :-)

01:39:07
Control-k / command-k is useful in many programs for inserting hyperlinks too, it's not just a Canvas thing

01:42:17
any file type?

01:43:29
if we do it this way, can students still print directly from the screen? can't see the bottom of this page

01:43:40
http://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-10033-415241392 lists all file types supported

01:44:02
That was the dance mix!

01:44:59
Is there anyway to search for a page?

01:45:04
Is there anyway on the homepage to have the recent announcements placed below the banner image?

01:46:07
in the all pages list I would like to search for a page by the page name. I have a lot of pages. Scrolling can be slow

01:47:10
That is great. Thanks!

01:47:11
keyboard shortcut control-f or command-f to search

01:47:18
in your browser

01:53:19
are students able to do this as well?

01:53:29
This is really especially for students if they need course access but don't have a network connection.

01:54:59
For students will it download the entire course?

01:55:18
But not unpublished modules?

01:55:22
cool

01:55:32
are tests downloaded

01:56:53
It's only for viewing content; students can't see or participate in tests, discussions, assignments.

01:58:38
I have been posting comments under test student to be available to use while grading

02:00:12
Once students upload an assignment, can they delete the upload and re-upload a new assignment?

02:00:45
I know how to view "access logs" for individual students, but is there a quick way to see which students have viewed a particular PAGE or FILE? Rather than looking at each student's access log individually.

02:01:13
In the gradebook, once the due date is pasted, zero is placed as default, what if I don't want that default grade until I assign a grade?

02:02:44
To ensure students don't see published items in published modules, you'd also need to ensure you don't have Pages, Assignments, Quizzes, Discussions, etc available on the course menu, correct?

02:02:58
* sorry in "unpublished" modules

02:03:11
Analytics is still individual student-by-student though, right?

02:03:29
I think there's a setting we have to click.

02:03:37
There's a setting/choice for zeros

02:04:01
One step beeeyyoooonnnd!! @sean

02:04:29
That's what I SAID!

02:04:41
Am I right that anything that is not set to be published in a module will automatically be published when the module is published

02:05:09
From patricia ariadne to Me: (Privately) 11:00 AMWhen I add a new assignment, it publishes to the very last column of grade sheet. I find myself tediously pulling it to where I want it (no matter where I add it on the assignment page). Is there a way to avoid the drag and drop for the new assignment on the gradesheet?

02:05:44
My gradebook is ordered the same way my "assignments" page is, so drag and drop on that page?

02:06:59
Using assignment groups might be a "hack" for ordering stuff in the gradebook

02:07:42
Oh, yes, I use assignment groups.

02:10:15
Yes, I learned quite a few things. Some I implemented already. Thank you. I sure wish though, that we could compose one announcement/one email and have it go to all classes. That is the only thing I miss from the Blackboard days. This was a great workshop!

02:10:23
Undelete as well!

02:10:28
Where is the best place to look for specific questions (eg. quizzes) online as we work?

02:10:39
how to make a file appear without having to click on it. But I forgot already! can you explain again.

02:10:47
Also liked the specifics of what students vs we see

02:11:32
Regina, if you mean a place to find answers about Canvas questions, the Canvas guides are great. You can click the Tech Help button at bottom left of the Canvas global menu to get the link (as well as the Canvas 24-7 hotline number)

02:11:36
thanks!

02:12:14
Thanks for all the tips and tricks!

02:12:16
Will you be posting the recording from this workshop?

02:12:30
Awesome!

02:12:38
Where will this recorded presentation be posted?

02:12:42
Where can we find the link to this recorded session?

02:13:00
The 11:30 session of Canvas Open Lab will be in a different Zoom meeting, not this one.

02:13:33
See the Flex week schedule; I'll post the link here closer to 11:30 too..

02:14:50
By the way, how do you view the chat when you share on zoom

02:16:02

02:17:08
Thanks!

02:17:52
Thanks

02:18:36
For an individual assignment in the gradebook, we used to be able to "view statistics" for that assignment. (using the right pull-down menu for the individual item). It seemed like that option went away (or perhaps it moved?) last semester -- any advice? I wasn't sure if there's a setting I need to adjust.

02:18:50
perfect, thanks!

Question from the lab: can a test be printed? Can an answer key to a test be printed?

02:19:44
thank you

02:22:50
https://support.respondus.com/support/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/360/9/retrieving-questions-from-canvas

02:23:27
Here are directions for Respondus. You have to download the exam as QTI from Canvas, then import that to Respondus and you can print.

02:24:06
We have respondus software available for faculty. That is the cleanest way to print a test, however not the fastest.
