Farideh, they can but some faculty send the Zoom links out via email - that’s fine too

Farideh, if a student is intent on sharing your Zoom link with a 3rd party who will do malicious things, it really makes no difference

If you are concerned about security, use of a Waiting Room in your Zoom meeting is probably the way to go.

But you can just use a mouse for basic things

For writing mouse is very difficult to control

Yes - but do keep in mind there is also a text tool in the annotation toolbar that allows you to just type onto the Zoom whiteboard or when annotating.

Does it make a sound when someone joins the meeting room?

You get a visual alert and you should also have the Participants window open - that shows everyone who is in the Waiting Room.

You can choose whether Zoom makes a sound or not when people join.

I think I missed this answer - my account doesn't seem to be the licensed account. Does anyone know how to swtich or link? I used my miracosta email when creating it.

What if a student can't make a scheduled zoom meeting time. Can watching the recording later and answering questions about it constitute attendance for that student? I realize this may be outside bounds of this training.

How do we create a Canvas link? (Last bullet point)

how do you give a student a quiz if they missed class and wat to take the quiz the next day? Perhaps they have received the quiz questions from a fellow student that attended the synchronous class.

Jeffrey, that’s totally your call and there’s a lot of different ways faculty deal with this. But in general I wouldn’t recommend conducting a high-stakes quiz during a synchronous class.

Jim, what do you mean you can’t share a recording outside of class?

You can’t share a Zoom recording made of one class section with a different class section due to privacy regulations

You also can’t hold one Zoom session and invite multiple class sections to participate. Each class section needs to have its own Zoom session.
