09:33
Good afternoon!

09:41
hello!

10:05
Patricia Ariadne to Everyone online!

11:53
https://miracosta-edu.zoom.us

12:03
here is how to shut off ding https://ithelp.brown.edu/kb/articles/play-a-chime-when-participants-enter-a-zoom-meeting

13:11
It was dinging this morning lol

13:17
Do we need to migrate to that new Zoom URL? What if we try to keep/use the old URL?

13:21
You can also enable or disable the chime once your meeting has started.

13:27
This is what is says

13:36
https://tic.miracosta.edu/zoom/

13:57
JC, you do need to migrate. That’s what this session is all about

14:07
Some things will still kind of work using the old URL but some will not.

15:00
760-795-6850 Helpdesk

15:33
If we already have an account, do we just proceed as usual?

15:40
Turn on or Off DingZoom.comSign inSettingsUnder In Meeting (Basic) tolggleSound notification when someone joins or leaves

15:46
Should we discontinue our conferzoom accounts now or was that done automatically?

16:00
thanks

16:02
Gabriela, everything was migrated over

16:07
You don’t need to discontinue anything

16:10
ok great!

19:22
https://tic.miracosta.edu/zoom/

20:27
Does Zoom then show up for my students too and are they also automatically authenticated?

20:32
This is available to students as well?

20:52
get error message. User doesn’t exist. But I used to exist.

21:01
if we have the Zoom app installed in our laptop will it interfere with the Zoom account in MC Canvas

21:44
Students can create a free Zoom account like everyone in the world, they just can’t create a Pro account through MiraCosta.

21:46
Kathryn afterward contact 6850

21:48
will my original conferzoom link still work for scheduling a meeting?

22:10
Will you be able to show us what students see at that Zoom link in Canvas? Because ‘student view’ just keeps logging me in as normal teacher account there.

22:14
I got "Warning, User does not Exist" when I clicked on Zoom in my Canvas class. How do I fix that so that my personal email is not dominant? Go to Account?

23:02
For Zoom office hours in an asynchronous course will I still email my students the link or do they just go through this Zoom link in the course menu and click on scheduled meetings?

24:44
David you need to update your link to include MiraCosta-edu at the beginning

26:01
Yes, I want to get the old zoom shortcut off my desktop and install the new one, this seems like the right time for this Q.

27:15
I might have missed this (I just had a bunch of termites falling on my lap at home and had to stop listening for a few…) If we have video recordings from fall 2020, can we still post those through the new zoom?

27:39
I’ve had to clear my browser when changing zoom from one college to another

28:16
Regarding polling: I found that polling questions were transferred over with my meetings when the migration happened.

28:26
I didn’t need to do anything.

28:48
Related to the office hour question: if I want my office hours to be open to multiple class sections, can I schedule meetings on both sections' Canvas sites and everyone will be able to get in?

28:55
That happened to mine too, but I cant see them through Canvas!

29:20
Jim

29:20
How do we check how much of our allotment we have used with our recording or is there a way?

29:31
how do you resolve ‘the user does not exist’ issue? sorry if this was repeated

29:45
If I put 1.5 hours, does it stop the meeting automatically?

30:15
if i want both classes to have the opportunity to come to office hours, can both classes join the same meeting?

30:35
I prefer no passcode, students struggle with it. Waiting room works well.

30:40
Do you need to have Canvas published to do a pre-semester Zoom? Thanks, Patricia Ariadne

30:53
@Nate -- same for me

30:59
I thought the Canvas integration meant that the passcode would be included in the Zoom link shared through Canvas.

31:06
@Nate and @ Janelle Same here

31:22
Is it a FRPA violation to have office hours for multiple classes at the same time?

31:42
But I agree with Brian, Nate, and Janelle - passcode is likely more trouble than benefit.

32:12
I don't really need to invite students now, do I? because they can enter from Canvas

32:28
how do you resolve ‘the user does not exist’ issue? sorry if this was repeated

32:38
Can students access recordings of classes here as well?

32:48
Will it send an automatic email to the students each week or do we have to do that manually?

33:11
Hi, Stacey - it’s not a FERPA violation. Here’s a privacy guide that just was posted today for Zoom at MiraCosta: https://www.miracosta.edu/faculty-staff/_docs/student-privacy-guidance-for-faculty.pdf

34:22
Definitely use a recurring meeting

34:27
Do the Zoom meeting dates/time show up on the Canvas Calendar so students can see them with their due dates?

35:20
Patricia, yes in order for students to see your class you need to publish it. Otherwise you can send an email with a link to zoom outside of canvas.

35:33
Can I use my personal meeting room?

35:59
Lori, you can either download the Zoom meetings and post them from your computer, you could also link them with a url

36:03
If I've set up a recurring meeting for my class sessions, is there a way to copy/paste a link that only works for the first meeting (i.e. to send to waitlisters for the first day)?

36:10
How do I do what Jim just explained? A link to meetings without a specific date & time?

36:41
can you please put help phone number here for later use?

36:42
Darlene, you would create your zoom meetings within zoom.com not through Canvas

37:41
James, it may be something within networking, give the help desk a call at 760-795-6850 to get help with that

37:55
thanks Jill

40:14
Laura you are correct

40:32
https://miracosta-edu.zoom.us

40:44
Pierre, I will look that up.

40:57
miracosta-edu.zoom.us

42:11
Brian, yes, you can send the link to anyone and they would be able to access the zoom meeting

42:35
Maybe I missed the answer to this question from Terez . . .if i want both classes to have the opportunity to come to office hours, can both classes join the same meeting?

42:48
What is the best way to set up online office hours available for ALL my classes? Just use my personal meeting room? Can students see my personal meeting room from Canvas or do I need to give them the link?

42:53
Same question I had, Rhonda.

42:56
Dawn, I would need to verify

43:28
no, i haven’t heard and answer to me question yet. Rhonda.

43:36
If I already created my reoccurring zoom class sessions in the new zoom, BEFORE I integrated this new zoom into the course, the zoom links will not show up in the class zoom link? If so, how do I get those to show in the course zoom?

43:39
an answer to my :).

44:27
@terez it's a great questions : )

44:31
miracosta-edu.zoom.us

44:39
cccconfer.zoom.us

44:43
Angela, I do not know whether you can have one Zoom meeting available via the Zoom LTI across multiple courses in Canvas. If not, you’d need to set up the meeting and share the link directly within Canvas rather than relying on students to use the Zoom integration to get to it.

45:17
Please unmute and ask the question verbally. Its hard to keep track if someone misses the chat. Thanks

46:14
It’s ok, with some caveats, to have office hours across multiple course sections. Here’s a privacy guide that just was posted today for Zoom at MiraCosta: https://www.miracosta.edu/faculty-staff/_docs/student-privacy-guidance-for-faculty.pdf

48:27
Gabriela to create a zoom meeting without a specific date and time Select "No Fixed Time" in the Recurrence selector

48:49
Oh that’s easy! Thanks :)

49:25
Cant Gabriela save the zoom recording as an MP4 as a workaround?

49:45
Rhonda this would be a zoom meeting that you would schedule within zoom not within a specific class.

50:09
Okay, thank you

50:40
but it won't let you do that.

50:56
ARe qe required to use zoom trough CANVAS?

51:00
we

52:03
no

52:42
It won't let you. You can still have a zoom ,link for all for office hours, but you cannot associate it to two classes.

52:44
Thanks

55:04
Nate that is correct but you can link the zoom links within Zoom. Unless Karen has a way of populating them in. I will ask.

57:29
Any Zoombombing issues?? Is this more secure?

58:12
Thanks Jim, that was very helpful

58:24
Nate and Gabriela All Zoom recordings can be saved as an mp4 and uploaded where needed. If you need help with that please contact the help desk at 760-795-6850

59:00
Rosa, Zoom in general is improving in its security and how to handle unwanted visitors, but this integration doesn’t really have much impact on that, in my opinion.

59:15
Zoombombing is happening, but rarely.

59:40
@Jilll. Yup, saving as MP4 is how I workaround any recordings I need from zoom.

01:01:19
Thank you Jim!

01:01:52
@Nate, I do the same thing

01:01:52
The main way that Zoombombing incidents seem to occur, at least at MiraCosta, is when students share the access information with outsiders.

01:01:54
When you import a meeting from the MiraCosta-edu zoom, it seems to maintain the settings you setup there like for waiting room.

01:03:26
Thanks for another great session!

01:03:36
Thank you everyone!

01:03:42
Thank you!!!

01:03:44
Thanks a lot

01:03:49
Thank you!

01:03:51
Thank you Karen and Jill!!

01:03:52
Thank you!!!!!

01:03:53
Thank you, Karen, Jill, and Jim!

01:03:56
Thank you!

01:03:58
Thanks Karen, Jill, and Jim

01:04:01
Thanks for another informative overview everyone!

01:04:04
Thanks everyone.

01:04:11
thanks Karen, Jill, and Jim

01:04:14
thanks!

01:04:21
thank you!

01:04:22
Thanks for all of the information and options. I just enabled all of my Zoom navigation settings.

01:04:36
thanks!

01:04:39
You’ll use your standard MiraCosta credentials to sign onto the new Zoom.

01:04:50
Yes, thank you Karen and Jill!

01:05:02
Thank you!

01:05:02
Thanks Karen, Jill, Jim et al. - sure appreciate the help!

01:05:11
I have a question about students sharing audio during the zoom class meting

01:05:22
I just tried the import of previously setup zoom meetings into canvas course and it worked :-)

01:05:56
Thanks a lot Karen, Jill and Jim!

01:06:22
thank you!

01:06:46
can you please schedule a class for the Canvas Schedule?

01:07:21
or Canvas Calendar Jim mentioned

01:07:31
Thanks a lot.

01:07:37
Last Q - how do I create a desktop shortcut for new zoom. I schedule lots of non class meetings.

01:07:42
Pronto is a new tool at MiraCosta that could be a nice alternative for less formal video meetings. We have a training on that starting at 2 pm here: https://pronto.zoom.us/j/94274929250?pwd=T0VkaCtFaEJzV21qYVcxNjhOclhWdz09

01:08:04
Nate is this a personal computer or district?

01:08:18
district

01:08:19
No change for desktop Zoom client, Nate

01:08:24
Your old client will still work

01:08:41
when will the recording of this become available?

01:08:45
Jumping off to the next session, thanks all!

01:08:57
Yes, just log out and sign in. If you do not have zoom installed, please submit a ticket to have zoom installed

01:09:03
What was the sso ID again?

01:09:16
miracosta-edu

01:09:55
thanks. Im out

01:10:06
Thank you all for coming.

01:11:30
thank you all

01:11:30
Thank you :-)

01:11:33
Thanks Karen
